Gradient XC Comp - de Aar Day 4 Task 2
Fun flight today - I had to persevere winching and only got away on the fourth tow!! The rest of my team got away a little earlier and all flew over 100km. I landed at around 80km. Tomorrow looks blown out, Thursday rain? Hopefully we get two more flying days at the end of the week.

Gradient XC comp - de Aar Day 3 Task 1
Strange day in de Aar, wind was light and very variable. I'm flying in a team with Arnold Frankenburger and Brett Zaenglein (US) and Joe Engels and myself (SA). We finally got off around 15h00 and managed to fly in a team gaggle, landing around 50km later right next to our recovery vehicle. It was a fun flight, good practice day. Hopefully today is a faster and stronger day. Our team is flying with tracking units, testing them for the Winelands pre PWC in December. We can be 'spotted' here. Gaynor is driving retrieve for us - she is Retrieve 1. Today is forecast to be stronger and faster.
A little on my Delta - the ground handling is superb, it is a fun and comfortable wing in the air. It's solid on speedbar - I'm looking forward to flying it in stronger de Aar conditions. To view yesterday's flight.... visit here.

Getting started...

Hot on the heels of an amazing three months in the US and Canada, I have finally "got it together" and have started my own blog... It's a bit late for me to rehash the last three months, but in short, it was an incredible experience, one I will be repeating in the years to come, perhaps not staying away for quite so long at a time though...
Not much to report on personally right now as nothing BIG on my agenda for the next few weeks. The Super Final for the Paragliding World Cup is underway in Turkey... we'll be doing a bit of armchair paragliding here while THEY hopefully have some amazing flying. Hopefully the Safrican contingent kicks some ass! Good luck Andre, Russell and Nevil!
Closer to home, a group of us are off to White Mountain this weekend - a hippie music festival, food stalls, good beer and flying with vultures.
My new Ozone Delta, sponsored by Stefanutti Stocks (South African based construction and engineering group) should arrive at the end of October, in time for some good old distance in de Aar - and I can't wait!!
